Tata Steel to focus on livelihood issues

TATA Steel has dedded to take up land and water management initiatives in predominantly backward tribal blocks in Jhark-hand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa under the Tata Steel Centenary Project (TSCP). For taking up these initiatives, the Sir Ratan Tata Trust recently signed an MoU with Tata Steel for providing technical support to TSCP. The MoU will remain valid for five years from April 1,2007. TSCP is a Rs 100-crore initiative through which Tata Steel aims to touch the lives of 40,000 poor tribal households in Jhark-hand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa where the company is setting up steel plants.
