THE CONTRARIAN demands of steel producers and mining companies may now be settled. The Hoda committee, whose report is likely to be finalised on June 30, is expected to make balanced recommendations regarding allocation of captive iron ore blocks after considering viewpoints of both steel and mining lobbies. While the steel producers have been demanding the Centre to frame a policy for allocation of captive iron ore blocks, mining lobby wants government to support and expand mineral production per se, and ban allocation of captive blocks.
