BC Ministry of Environment proposing new landfill criteria

The British Columbia Ministry of Environment has issued a revised set of landfill criteria for municipal solid waste for public comment. The original criteria were published in 1993. The updated document, called 'Landfill Criteria for Municipal Solid Waste: Draft Interim Second Edition,' builds on the original document and incorporates new standards, and operating practices that have been developed since 1993 to minimize risks to public health and enhance environmental protection.
