SMALL BUSINESSES IN OLSZTYN - PRESENT STATE AND PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT

The article presents results of research conducted on population of 251 small business firms located at Olsztyn (with average yearly employment between 5 and 50 employee).Characteristics of firms were done using chronological and territorial point of view. Gathered data from research was compare to other border state capitols (Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Toruń). Results of research were fulfilled by official government statistics data and confronted by other publications on the subject. In conclusion, research showed that questioned owners of small business were more optimistic about their present and future condition than average of optimistic index for Poland and UE.
