Giant Aneurysm of Aortic Right Coronary Sinus: Diagnostic Doubts Related to Presentation of Valsalva Sinus Aneurysm in Transthoracic Echocardiography

Mini-Abstract We present the images of giant aneurysm of Valsalva sinus (SVA) in 79-year-old woman that was not diagnosed in first transthoracic echocardiographic study, because of problematic presentation suggesting defect of aortic wall or additional structure inside right ventricle. Although the majority of aneurysm of Valsalva sinuses are diagnosed by echocardiography, our case illustrates diagnostic doubts evoked by big aneurysm which seemed to fill completely right ventricular cavity. Nevertheless, repeated detailed examination with support of 3D technique and verification by computed tomography elucidated the correct diagnosis. On grounds of high surgical risk, the patient was classified for treatment with losartan and echocardiographic monitoring.
