New Zealand's Associate Energy Minister Harry Duynhoven has announced the award of a large petroleum exploration permit in the Outer Taranaki Basin - the first ever block handed out in the offshore area.The 55,800sq km permit PEP 38451 was awarded to US-based Global Resources and covers most of the Outer Taranaki Basin, which has previously seen very little exploration, said New Zealand's state operator Crown Minerals.
