Sevan 880m GoM breakthrough

Norway's Sevan Marine has won a breakthrough drilling contact for its cylindrical SSP drilling rig concept, with Petrobras America signing it up for a US 880m six-year programme in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.The Sevan Driller is currently under construction with the detailed engineering having been underway since March.The rig will have the capacity to drill wells of up to 40,000ft in length, in water depths of up to 12,500ft. It will also have a variable deckload of more than 15,000 metric tons and high storage capacity of bulk materials. It will be equipped with an internal storage capacity of up to 150,000 bbl of oil.
