Devon will start appraisal drilling on a potential fast-track project offshore Equatorial Guinea in the next few weeks.The US independent is operator of Block P and will drill three wells in a row on the acreage where it previously made the Venus discovery with the P-2 well. The shallow water well was drilled to a total depth of 7,100ft (2,163m) and hit 150ft (45m) of net oil pay. It was subsequently sidetracked down dip to delineate the discovery and hit 114ft (35m) of net oil pay.
