StatoilHydro has hit pay in its Noatun exploration well which is being drilled near the Njord field in the Norwegian Sea.Wildcat 6407/7-8 is being drilled with the West Alpha rig 16km north of Njord and has proved gas/condensate in the Middle to Lower Jurassic.The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said today: "The well has been formation-tested(mini DST)and extensive data acquisition and sampling have been performed.A sidetrack will be drilled in an attempt to establish the gas/water contact and the size of the discovery."
