New play opens for Congo

A new oil discovery has been made in a new play in Congo Brazzaville.Burren Energy has made the find with the Loufika-1 well in the Kouilou block which is 35km southeast of the 1.4 Bn bbl M'Boundi field which it also operates.The well hit a 328ft (100m) thick sandstone reservoir of which the upper 164ft (50m) are oil-bearing at a depth of 1,808ft (551m).The initial tests on part of this oil-bearing section produced a flow rate on pump of 380 b/d of a 26° API oil.
