Wood Group takes profit hit

Engineering outfit John Wood Group's pre-tax profit slipped in 2004 to US 53.7m, compared to 83m in 2003.The company took a hit from the restructuring of its gas turbine services business as well as a slow market in the deepwater engineering sector. Revenues were up 15% to 2.3 Bn compared to US 2 Bn last time. The company said there had been good growth in its production facilities division, particularly in the North Sea.
