Vice-President David Smith has, with Honorary Secretary Pat Reddin, completed a comprehensive review of the code of conduct, byelaws and financial management documentation of the Association and their recommendations were unanimously approved at the last council meeting. David is also a member of the Fire Safety Engineering Group which, as its title suggests, is concerned with the advancement of the science of fire safety engineering. It is formed as a section of the Association under the terms of paragraph 101 of the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the ABE which provides: "Sections of the Association may be formed from time to time by members of the Association interested in any particular branch of the arts and sciences concerned with the planning, design, construction, maintenance and repair of the built environment, but no section shall be formed except with the sanction of a resolution of the Council and each section shall at all times comply with all requirements or regulations prescribed by Council and may at any time be dissolved by Council".
