Ground improvement nowadays represents one of the most important branches of Geotechnical Engineering. There have been tremendous advances in techniques in the last few years, many including new and innovative technologies. With ever-increasing pressure to develop areas deemed in the past as too problematical or costly, a sound knowledge of present and future techniques to improve such ground is vital. The scientific programme of the 6th International Ground Improvement Techniques Conference covers a broad spectrum of the available and recently developed techniques, and aims to provide a forum for academics, researchers, practising engineers, developers and all those with an interest in improving the ground to exchange experiences on design, execution and the behaviour of improved ground.
