Irish joy after Bandon find

Serica Energy has made the first oil discovery offshore the west of Ireland for more than 30 years. Serica made the find in its Bandon prospect offshore exploration well in licence FEL 1/06 in the Slyne Basin. Well 27/4-1 was spudded on 11 May with the Ocean Guardian semisubmersible drilling rig and drilled to a total depth of 6,233ft (1,901m) through the Jurassic and Sherwood intervals.
