GdF Suez bags Azeri equity

France's GdF Suez has bought a 20% share in the Absheron Block in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea as it looks to expand its existing and probable oil reserves. The block is operated by French major Total and it is still in the exploration phase. If commercial reserves are firmed up, it will significantly boost GdF Suez's reserves, which totalled 704m boe at the end of 2008, said GdF Suez.
