Ithaca Energy has spudded a new appraisal well on its Athena discovery in the UK sector of the North Sea.The 14/18-17 well is the third well on the Athena oil project intended to appraise the potential of an extension to the known accumulation.The well was spudded with the Byford Dolphin rig which is managed by AGR.The well will take approximately 30 days to reach the targeted Lower Cretaceous Leek sands which make up the Athena field.If successful,the well will be tested and suspended for future production.
