Shell 2Q up 20%

Royal Dutch Shell said today that its second quarter 2007 earnings, on a current cost of supply basis, hit US 7.6 Bn, up 20% compared to 6.3 Bn a year ago.Exploration & Production earnings were 3.3 Bn, compared with 4 Bn in the second quarter 2006. The downturn was caused by lower volumes, tax charges and higher costs, reflecting current industry conditions, partly offset by a divestment gain, Shell said.
