The low oil price has dramatically impacted the amount of cash flowing into the coffers of Saudi Arabia, but the kingdom's avowed commitment to unconventionals remains firm. With its national oil company (NOC) Saudi Aramco strategically tasked with the long-term goal of stepping up its technological capabilities related to accessing unconventional gas in shale and tight sands, the relatively short-term travails of a depressed oil price are not denting the NOC's ambitions.
