Rotary steerabk system uses shaft-deflection design and extended-gauge bits to reliably drill hard layers in horizontal wells at shallow angles of attack. Rotary steerable technology has produced impressive results since its introduction. Drilling records - both geometrical reach and drilling time - are broken regularly, and tremendous value has been realized, especially on high-cost drilling projects offshore. Drilling efficiencies have been dramatically improved, and operators in deepwater and other high-cost areas routinely run these systems in virtually every hole interval, proof that in the majority of applications, the technology has yielded significant drilling time and cost reductions.
