摘要

BT has just finished a joint collaboration with the DTI as part of the Self-Organising Collegiate Sensor (SECOAS) project that could help predict when the next tsunami is due to hit and the likely impact this will have on the local environment. Undertaking a major re-evaluation of environmental sensing field methodologies, BT developed the first successful buoy-to-buoy communications at sea at Scroby Sands in Norfolk. This consisted of a lightweight, floating and low-powered sensor device network which uses wireless communication to monitor seabed movement resulting from complex oceanographic processes.
