Bids are expected in next month for some prize deepwater assets up for grabs from EnCana in the Gulf of Mexico.Market rumours have associated several big hitters with the Canadian company's sale of its GoM deepwater interests, including BHP Billiton, BP, Petrobras, Shell and ChevronTexaco, as well as several medium-sized independents and also the rumoured interest from Asian players including CNPC and CNOOC, all looking for a quick fix to either boost their proved and probable reserves base or establish themselves in the region.
