Petrobras gets Amazon nod

Ecuador has awarded an environmental permit to Brazil's state-owned Petrobras to develop an oil field in Block 31 in the Amazon region,with production due to start in 2009,said Ecuador's President Rafael Correa.The permit was the last obstacle Petrobras had to clear before it could start work on the project.The operator will spend US 300m on the field and aims for a production rate of 40,000 b/d of oil.
