Noble Energy said it has made a"significant"new oil discovery in an appraisal well offshore Equatorial Guinea.The find was made on the Benita prospect in Block I.The I-2 appraisal well encountered 148ft(45m)of net pay of which there is an estimated 33ft(10m)of net gas pay underlain by 115ft(35m)of net oil pay.Preliminary analysis of the oil indicates a crude oil gravity of 32° API.The I-2 well,located in 3,120ft(951m)of water and 42km east of Bioko Island,was drilled to a total depth of 10,581ft(3,225m).
