Public consultation in the work of Government has become an integral part of the UK policy-making process. Public consultation aims to create a more open government with more effective policies by listening to, and taking on board, the views of the public and interested groups. The Association of Building Engineers, as one of the main construction industry stakeholders, actively participates in the consultation process on policies relating to the built environment in order to represent members' interests and to influence the direction of future policy affecting the construction industry. The Association aims to actively contribute to Government policy consultation regarding the built environment, building regulations and building standards as well as representation with various industry organisations as key industry stakeholders.
