Benchmark testing improves ROP: Development and benchmark testing of advanced diamond product bits and HP/HT fluids optimize deep drilling performance and significantly improve ROP

The first portion of a 3-year program to improve deep well drilling performance through rigorous proof-of-concept drilling testing at high borehole pressures has been successfully completed. The work, by TerraTek and industry partners, focuses on the development of advanced drill bit technologies and advances in high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) fluids for various deep, slow drilling applications. A phased approach to developing and commercializing "smart drilling bit/fluid systems" combines the features of new bit technologies and fluids specifically benchmarked for high pressure and hard rock applications.
