Infinitely more valuable than periodic measurements, continuous dynamic production data is key to understanding what's going on in the well and the reservoir. The challenge, and it is a formidable one, is condensing measurement data into useful information, then subsequently using the information to develop knowledge and understanding. So it is with distributed temperature sensing (DTS) data. The whole concept of depth-and-time continuous temperature measurement is relatively new, and many companies have not yet figured out how to process it, use it and value it. Without this ability, it's difficult to make a business case for installing a DTS system in a well.
