Integrated decision management (IDM) changes how decisions are made. This final article of the three-part series shows how IDM promotes and contributes to successful implementation of those decisions. IDM is an alternative decision-making process for high-impact economic decisions that leads to higher quality decisions in less time than the traditional approach. The Advocacy Approach (AA) is traditionally used to make decisions in the oil and gas industry. Unfortunately, AA has inherent limitations. It fails to produce multiple viable alternatives for early consideration and has limited means to properly identify and address risk. AA typically relies on an advocate who champions a proposed solution.
