摘要

Retirement is a word that inspires many emotions, from bliss (1 can sleep as late as 1 want, 1 can play golf every day) to dread (What will 1 do with those endless hours?). For the teeming masses of baby boomers that are facing this prospect within the next few years, one thing is certain - they won't have outstayed their welcome. If industry pundits are concerned about this imminent wave of disappearances, they can be content about one thing: this particular demographic group seems to have enjoyed their jobs to an unusual extent and seems willing to continue working past normal retirement age, albeit on their own terms. And many are unusually altruistic when it comes to giving back to the profession that helped them make those careers. Both of these characteristics are of great importance as the industry faces unprecedented numbers of retirements in the next few years and tries to manage The Great Crew Change.
