YPF Builds Shale Momentum

Argentina state producer YPF continued to ramp up its shale activity in the third quarter. The company said it completed 44 wells in the July-September period, an all-time high for the company. YPF also boosted its shale output by 45,400 boe/d during the third quarter, lifting its overall production to 496,000 boe/d. Although much of the company's recent activity has focused on exploiting natural gas resources under a government-subsidized incentive program, it is ramping its crude oil activity and production, according to CEO Sergio Affronti said. YPF also expects to increase its oil-focused capital spending in 2022.
