In writing this short summary of the professional life of Pat Reddin lam faced with a significant challenge: how can anyone hope to sum up in mere words the sheer presence and professionalism of such a man? Perhaps it's best summarised by first impressions. My initial impression of Pat Reddin was that of a knowledgeable professional, expert in challenge and dispute; very quickly it became obvious that Pat was driven by a desire for himself, his chosen Professional Association, and all those associated with it, to achieve excellence. Despite numerous, often heated, debates it was easy to admire Pat and offer him the respect he deserved. My lasting impression is that of a good man, sometimes frustrated at those around him who often lacked his incisive grasp of issues, or simply could not process information at the rate that Pat could, but a man who has helped shape the professional development not only of the Association but also all of those he came into contact with.
