UK Baird gas storage plan

Centrica has paid US $35m to acquire a 70% stake in a scheme to convert the largely depleted Baird gas field in the UK Southern North Sea into a gas storage facility. Centrica picked up the stake from Perenco, which will retain the remaining 30% stake in the project. Under the terms of the deal, Centrica will manage the design and project development incurring further costs of around $17m before a final investment decision is made.
