Eni reports profit rise

Italy's Eni has reported second quarter adjusted profit of US 3.62 Bn today,an increase of 4.4% from the same period of 2007 even though results were hampered by high taxes.The company's adjusted operating profit was 8.76 Bn,up 33.6% from the second quarter of last year,due to the better operating performance of the E&P unit,driven by higher realisations and production growth.
