India mulls drilling holiday

India's Petroleum Ministry has asked the country's Cabinet to approve a drilling holiday,possibly extending until 2010,for offshore explorers due a global shortage of deepwater drilling rigs.The holiday would release companies,including state-owned ONGC and domestic big hitter Reliance,from obligations to drill on deepwater blocks they won in previous licensing rounds,reported the Times of India.
