Australia's planned 2009 offshore licensing round is likely to offer frontier territory among the 20 permits up for grabs, with seven of the new blocks being offshore South Australia. The Department of Resources, Energy & Tourism said that two blocks off Victoria, nine blocks off Western Australia and one block off the Northern Territory are proposed to be released. Another block which straddles both the Northern Territory and Western Australia is also planned to join the seven South Australia blocks in the round.
