The role of the Corporate Engineer is varied. I specialise in fire safety, which affects many aspects of building construction, and influences other facets. As such, I need to keep apace with trends and modern techniques, changes in legislation and maintain a broad knowledge of other disciplines. CPD is the main route towards achieving this. As I travel into London, I pass through Stratford Station, which is at the heart of the Olympic project. Each journey highlights the speed at which the construction is moving to meet the 2012 deadtine. Those of us who have taken advantage of one of the Association's trips to the site cannot fail to have been impressed by the enthusiasm, commitment, and organisation shown. You all do the same on a daily basis in your professional life and know that this way you achieve your goals. Can I ask you to apply these assets to assist your Region?
