Shedding the Cinderella image

The IT training department is often treated like Cinderella. It is undervalued and ignored, at least until the last minute when it is expected to sweep up after another project implementation. Perhaps it is because IT training professionals are tucked away inside a department which is not focussed on learning. Alternatively they maybe bolted onto HR departments which do not understand the specific demands of IT learning. Generally, despite spearheading some of the most innovative learning technologies and techniques, this valuable resource is neither seen nor heard. Perhaps it is time for IT training professionals to borrow some techniques from marketing to help change their profile within the business.
