Cash for Appliances concerns recyclers

The upcoming Cash for Appliances program could spell trouble for the appliance and white goods recycling industry. Partly modeled after the successful Cash for Clunkers program last summer, Cash for Appliances is backed by $300 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and offers consumers rebates on the purchase of new energy-efficient appliances.
