Virgin atlantic airways is not known for doing things by halves, and its decision to centralise its training facilities on an industrial estate in Crawley — in former factory premises now known as The Base — has resulted in a mass of a-v support activity. Having operated 'on and off in the premises for eight years, Virgin started converting it to a properly-equipped training facility three years ago when it had a-v facilities put into 16 rooms. Now, it has drastically expanded the centre's capacity, adding another 29 a-v equipped classrooms, an auditorium and reception areas that enable it to cope with up to 1,500 trainees a week.
