What direction is e-scrap heading? Over the past 10 years, the industry has grown immensely, contributing over $5 billion annually to the U.S. economy and quintupling employment to over 30,000 workers. Half of states now have electronics recycling laws on the books. The total volume of material collected has increased every year over the past decade. The sky's the limit, right? Well, maybe. While the e-scrap industry's core businesses of asset refurbishment/resale and metal recovery still have significant room for growth, several challenges loom on the horizon.
