The optimum media were investigated for zygotic embryo culture of Taxus chinensis var. mairei [Taxus mairei]. DCR medium was found to be more effective than MS medium, and promoted the development of whole plantlets, while MS medium produced callusand vitrified germinated embryos. Details are given of the best plant growth regulator types and dosages, and other additives, for adventitious bud induction from callus derived from hypocotyls of germinated embryos. With further changes in the additionsto the DCR medium, adventitious roots were induced and complete plantlets were obtained.
