GUIDELINES FOR HEATH & SAFETY WITHIN THE SUBSIDENCE INDUSTRY

Guidelines for safe and efficient -1 underpinning and mini piling operations have been published by ASUCplus. The guidelines describe the minimum procedures that ASUCplus members follow in carrying out subsidence repair and similar types of construction work. The guidelines set out the minimum levels of control and methods of working necessary to ensure that underpinning and mini piling work is done effectively, giving the best value for money, with minimal or no adverse environmental consequences, so as to ensure the health and safety of the workers and those who may be affected by the work. The guidelines chiefly deal with subsidence repair but since similar techniques may be used to increase load carrying capacity, construct basements under existing buildings, carry out certain structural repairs and prevent undermining or deal with ground heave, these are also included.
