Understanding Building Failures is a special area of further study for many professionals in both the UK and abroad. James Douglas and Bill Ransom provide us with a good introduction to the study of defects in buildings and, in consequence, to good practice, to conservation and repairs, but also with a good guide to designers and architects working at home or abroad; for example, in southern European countries. The book provides a well-structured content for students and practitioners; it is easily readable, written in good English and, finally, it has achieved its objective, namely, to provide a thorough knowledge for understanding building failures.
