The first book includes those of Hans Ertel's works on geophysical fluid dynamics that are not included in the preceding issues of this series (see also the reviews published in Izvestia,Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics in 1992,1994,and 1996),but,to a large extent,these works repeat his studies already included previously.Ertel was known to use certain duplication,"replication" even to say,of his works,namely,to reproduce rather similar results in several publications,written concisely and clearly.
