Industry-university partnerships in materials engineering

This conference was an eye opener in several ways. Masterminded by an Institute of Materials (as it was when the project began) Committee, and sponsored by the EPSRC and the IISI, it was intended to be an international conference. As LAURIE GILL reports, it turned out to be more international than anyone realised with attendance from around 16 countries outside the UK.
