While there is fresh unity, lobbying effort and promotional effectiveness occurring with the New Zealand forest products industry, in Australia there is less cohesion and certainty about the structure of industry associations. Many of the country's biggest and hitherto most influential sector organisations are in various stages of disarray, including: the Forest Products Association of NSW (FPA), Victorian Association of Forest Industries (VAFI), Timber and Building Merchants Association (TABMA NSW), Timber Develop-ment Association (TDA NSW), Australian Timber Importers Federation (ATIF), and the timber preservation bodies.
