SDI has been acquiring greater interest in irrigating orchards and row crops due to the great advantages in supplying plants with water and fertilizer at the root zone only. However, fear of dripper-clogging remains the major factor in preventing SDIfrom becoming more popular. Dripper clogging through root intrusion or soil particles' suction into the dripper between the watering intervals is the main concern in SDI. Assif is a new type of dripper having a combination of an anti-siphon mechanism, which prevents water and particle aspiration through the dripper, and RootGuard protection of root intrusion into the dripper, designed especially for SDI.
