The tenth edition of this classic text still carries a certain familiarity in spite of the incorporation of modern terminology and modern technology in the examples used. The use of the bill of quantities has seen a marked decline, due to the increased use of alternative procurement methods such as design and build. However, the need for the quantity surveyor and others such as construction managers to have knowledge of measurement still exists, whichever procurement route they happen to be involved with.
