Britain's landscape is diverse and dissimilar to any other. The Li architectural mix makes Britain unique but, as with all things in life, time and the elements eventually take their toll on buildings, and their roofs are no exception. Members of the Clay Roof Tile Council (CRTC), which is the UK's independent trade association for the clay roof tile industry, are continuing to ensure that the legacy of our old buildings can be appreciated by generations to come. The roof is arguably the single most exposed surface of any structure. It has to withstand rain, wind, ice, ultraviolet light and acids caused by atmospheric pollution. It is therefore crucial that high quality materials, manufactured specifically for the purpose, are used that can resist the UK's ever-changing weather fronts. Imported products may be cheaper in the short term, but may be inferior if they have not been manufactured to suit the British climate. Furthermore, some overseas products are not regulated and tested to the same high standards as tiles produced in the UK.
