The level of management apathy towards training has come as something of a surprise to Ian Boyd, the man who came out of semi-retirement to head up FITEC - New Zealand's biggest industry training organisation. To be effective, training and education obviously require industry support, and in that respect we have some real training champions throughout the industry. "However, I have been surprised at times by the apparent apathy among management to support training, both financially and by their [lack of] presence at critical training occasions," Boyd told Inwood.
