ALTHOUGH FORESTRY exports are a cornerstone of the Port of Tauranga's business, they are by no means, as most analysts would have it, the full story. That is clear from the company's latest financial result. In addition to forestry, the core businesses are imports, particularly coal, oil and fertilisers, and steadily increasing exports of kiwifruit and milk powder. For two years in a row the strongest negative impact on the Port's trading result has been the steady downturn in the forestry sector.
